The View from Long Pond — Winchester, MA

FullSizeRender

The aptly named Long Pond located right off of South Border Road has a hiking trail encircling it, which passes a gorgeous vantage point on some big boulders with a convenient bench perched on top. You can climb down these rocks to look right into the water, and you’ll notice how still everything is right under the surface. Every now and then, a painted turtle breaks the surface of the lily pads to travel to a spot to sun themselves. The pond is one of the smaller, more unassuming bodies of water to choose from in the Middlesex Fells Reservation area, but it’s a great spot to get some quiet time to yourself.
